The Suncoast Center for Natural Health and School of Massage Therapy has been a leader in massage therapy education and related activities since it was founded in 1982. It was under the continual ownership of Daniel and Tekla Ulrich from 1982-2003.
Both Suncoast and its leadership have been in the forefront of the development, education and regulation of massage therapy. It was among those who welcomed new ideas and practices, tested them and kept the ones that truly enhanced the healing power of touch. Over the years it established a strong and expansive curriculum and attracted a truly remarkable faculty. This faculty and curriculum still form the basis of the strong educational program that exists at the school today. The strength of the curriculum and faculty still support SunCoast II. They are the basis of the school’s strong reputation for quality training.
This influence also extends beyond Suncoast. Suncoast was a leader in moving the licensing of massage therapists from the Department of Business and Professional Regulations to the Department of Health causing Florida to be a national leader in this change.
In 2003 the school was purchased by Daniel P. Seguin and James G. Saunders, and renamed SunCoast II: The Tampa Bay School of Massage Therapy, LLC. Both Dan and Jim are graduates of the school. Dan served as our Dean of Education. Jim, a more recent graduate and licensed massage therapist spent thirteen years teaching at three universities and managed businesses for thirty years. On November 13, 2006 Jim purchased Dan’s 50% interest in the company. He now Serves as President/Dean. The schools offices are located at 2005 Pan Am Circle, Suite 100, in the Westshore community of Tampa Florida.
